Background: Gan Jiang Tang has been relied upon by practitioners for many, many years to combat the first signs of cold. It was originally formulated over a millennium ago. Gan Jiang Tang directly resolves ‘heat toxins’ with two herbs: Liquorice Root/Gan Cao and Ginger Root Rhizome/Sheng Jiang. They make up 100% of the formula. What, you ask, are ‘heat toxins’? In TCM herbal medicine lingo, viruses causing upper respiratory infections are ‘toxins’ that cause a fever (heat) response as further developed. Gan Jiang Tang has been the foundation formula with optional ingredient(s) as needed for particular symptom(s). It is also an early remedy to prevent and/or mitigate flu-like respiratory illness when the cause is unclear. The rest of the herbs in the formula reduce heat energy in the body, clear sore throat and push the heat toxins ‘to the surface’ and out of the body.

When to Use: Gan Jiang Tang is commonly used at the first sign of cold, useful for colds beginning in the thirty throat with less cough and no fever. It is also used for cold-prevention when exposed, or likely-to-be-exposed, to a cold.

Notes: This Chinese herbal remedy is prepared for cold and does NOT have any antibiotics or antiviral ingredient. You may take OTC pain killers and/or prescribed antibiotics under the instruction of your family doctor. Keep it in mind that family doctor is your primary healthcare resource. Do NOT take any other Chinese herbal dietary supplement while you’re taking this Gan Jiang Tang.  This Chinese herbal remedy may not suit for long-term use, particularly to pregnant women, people under hypertension condition, and/or people with blood clotting problems.
